SIGN THE PETITION
and make your voice heard
We now have over 4,900 signatures to date for our petition to DLR Council to amend the ‘dog control’ bye-laws. BUT WE NEED MORE, MANY MORE! Our aim is to gather a minimum of 8,000 signatures and present to Council. Such a weight of public opinion cannot be ignored. This could become a significant issue in the next local elections in June 2014 . . .
Help needed in getting more names . . .
Ask other members of your family and also just 5 of your friends to sign our Petition ONLINE at this website. This is the way to build our numbers.
OR
Can you gather HARD COPY signatures for our Petition in your local area?
Here is a blank petition form that you can print out and ask people to sign. Then you can contact
info@dogs-unleashed.org and we will arrange to have the signed pages collected from you.
Thank you in anticipation!

Dogs should be free to roam off the leash – I despair at the ineptitude of our elected officials for attempting to implement such a ridiculous law. whom do they purport to represent might I ask?

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Council have done many good things for the area in recent years but to implement law which cannot be enforced without an army of enforcers–bad law.
I have no dog. I walk the seafront daily Seapoint to Dun Laoghaire It is a pleasure to observe how well it is maintained . I love to see the dogs running free. Happy dogs . resposible owners . 20 years walking . never met a nasty dog.

What is the point of having a dog if you are just going to chain it up and ignore it

its about time our country misses a massive tourist bonanza thanks to the attitude of our tether dogs and no place to go
people from the UK who love their dogs do not come here because of the lack of freedom to explore dine and stay with their pets
we run a pub in glandore west cork
we welcome dogs and have the most handsome black lab called alfie wine
he is our best boy our place is the glandore inn next to hayes bar also dog friendly with a beautiful setter called George
we were going to go out tonight with our baby to eat but
no place in west cork the fact we will not go to a restaurant without our baby means the local community has lost 100 euro
times that by maybe 10000 visitors to Ireland from the UK if dogs were welcome thats 500000.00 a day on restaurants alone or 3.5 million euro a week or 182 million a year
some money
anyway add us to the short list our food is top notch

SOME dogs are not cotrolled by their owners!
SOME children are not controlled by their parents!
MOST children are well behaved.
MOST dogs are well behaved.
LET US RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS WALK OUR DOGS WITHOUT A LEASH.

By changing this rule you are taking away natural freedom from the dogs when its not the dogs fault. It is bad owners who dont tidy up and dont train dogs.
Dog socialising has to be allowed. The tax payers money help keep these seafronts clean so why take the right to let purdogsenjoy theopen space as much as humans!!!

Ridiculous to have dogs in the lead all the time. They need the headspace of a good gallop and fun time chasing and playing etc. DLRCC don’t be so bloody ridiculous.

The proposal to ban dogs (even leashed) completely year round from Seapoint is not acceptable. It is not an acceptable compromise to have dogs banned in return for an off leash area. I hope Dogs Unleashed will make it clear that it stands for the rights of all dog owners and strongly oppose any attempt at banning well controlled dogs from any area.

People who open their front door and let their dogs out to do what all animals do should not be allowed to keep dogs, nor those who pretend not to notice their animals fouling public areas. The animals can not be blamed but the owners certainly can. The vast majority of responsible dog owners should not be penalised for the failure of the few and should be allowed to excercise and enjoy the company of their animals pretty much where and when they wish. I am not a dog owner and do not intend to become one. What I do intend to do is everything in my power to catch and have prosecuted those who do not clean up after their pets. In this day of cameras in phones the general public have an opportunity, even an obligation to take a photograph of any dog fouling they witness and send it to the relevent authority to persue the offender. I am happy to sign this petition in the hope that the authorities will respond to what the people say. I am particularly interested in bringing to official attention “poo alley” being the short lane between Corrig Park and Northumberlas Ave. It is practically impossible to step around or over the amount of fouling that takes place daily in this 10 yds of public pathway. I am glad that I have found this web site and look forward to getting involved.

This law is crazy! It is underestimated by those short-sighted legislators the value of dogs in family life and in the wider community, including in therepeutic physical and mental health services e.g. guiding the partially sighted, helping children with autism, companions to people living alone. The real problem is dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs, but more especially off-beach, on housing estates, on public streets and in public parks. On beaches those irresponsible people, who are a minority, are more visible and other dog carers tell them off, me included.
I was reared with dogs and am currently a frequent carer (luckily for the dogs, on the in every way more cultured Northside!!!) of my daughter’s and partner’s dogs, who are resident in Dun Laoghaire and Rathdown, and are frequently exercised on Killiney beach. There is no more pleasant sight than watching dogs running alongside and in water, whether that be on Killiney beach or Portmarnock Beach or any other beach in the Country. Use your vote people!

LEAVE THE RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS ALONE. COUNCIL SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON FINING OWNERS WHO DO NOT CLEAN UP AFTER DOGS. A MASSIVE FINE. I LIVE IN SUTTON AND WE HAVE DISGUSTING OWNERS NOT DISGUSTING DOGS.GOOD LUCK WITH CAMPAIGN.
